Using corks, cardboard, wool and lolly sticks I set the kids a challenge of making a boat. There was no other guidelines or specifications.
There was a lot of talk about floatation, material suitability and safe testing.
Both boats floated, but one did capsize:
After a lot of discussion, they went in the real boat, and wondered exactly how we are able to stay afloat without corks, lolly sticks and jolly roger flags.
