Od is doing maths, because she wants to.
This is a huge and welcome turnaround.
We also got our first ever copy of Anorak magazine. It is the answer to my magazine prayers. You see, my kids rather love the idea of magazines but I hate how full of adverts they are and how, mostly, they are trying to get your kids to nag you into buying things that you neither want or need. Anorak is very different. There are all of two adverts in the whole publication. The rest is just brilliant. It really is the happy mag for kids!
This issue had a killer maze that kept Od confused for ages:
We were outside (under the brolley) making boats out of air drying clay (I know, this may not work.) We thought long and hard about what makes some thing float, and Od imparted the wisdom she has recently learnt from Fatal Forces.
There was also phonics reading card fun (yes, really. Fun). I'm not sure about the value of teaching phonics as a reading method because little Mb finds it confusing. He seems to enjoy making words out of them though. His best game is to keep the end of the word the same, and change the beginning to make different words, and trying hard to make the words "Poop" and "Bum".

Finally, Mb was so inspired by the bird issue of Anorak (see, we really do love it!) that he made his own bird art wall:
