We saw a few of them. Holy Island, Berwick Fort, Alnwick Gardens, Bamburgh Castle (where crazy Nan shouted to any one that would listen that Lord Armstrong made his money by collaborating with the Nazis.)
It started so well and ended really badly.
We had good weather, and then really really bad weather.
We had sickness bugs. In a tent. Not so nice.
We had a trip to A and E when MB jumped off the top of a climbing frame and damaged his ankle.
We vowed to never, ever camp again.
We came home and the PC ate and then lost all my downloaded pictures. Gah.

sorry to hear that your holiday has put you off camping - hope MB's ankle not too badly damaged?
no! do not be put off camping! i need all the support there is! the very first time i took the kids off in a tent we had a similar set of experiences; we came home after two days vomiting and within a whisker of A&E. but one way of looking at these experiences is that it makes you stronger for the next time! (and northumberland is one of england's most beautiful counties.)
